Lakhs in U’khand to experience relief with extension of PMGKA Yojana: CM
Stresses on observing all precautions till Covid vaccine is developed
Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till November end. Appreciating this decision, he said that 80 crore poor people will get considerable relief due to the scheme being extended by five months. The coming time is a festive time and this decision will enable the poor to celebrate the festivals happily, said the CM.
After watching the PM’s address to the nation on Tuesday evening, Rawat said that extending the scheme from July to November has strengthened the government’s commitment to ensure that no poor person sleeps on an empty stomach. The five-month extension will entail a Rs 90,000 crore expenditure while adding the expenditure of the past three months months takes the total cost to Rs 1,50,000 crore.
Rawat said that the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana benefits lakhs of families in Uttarakhand. These families will also enjoy considerable relief due to the five-month extension of the scheme.
The CM said, “The Prime Minister is the guardian of all Indians. He has always taken the correct decision at the right time in national interest. The focal point of his decisions is always the welfare of the nation’s poor. Regarding the lockdown too, the PM took a courageous decision at the right time due to which the lives of lakhs of people were saved.”
Rawat further said that 130 crore Indians are with the PM. All need to resolve to move forward together. Stating that the PM is doing all that is possible in national interest, he said that the citizens also have to support the PM. “We need to observe all precautions against Covid-19. We have to make mandatory use of the mask, maintain social distancing and regularly wash our hands. This is the medicine for Covid until a vaccine is developed,” said Rawat.
He said that considerable relaxations are being provided in the state as part of Unlock-2. The Char Dham Yatra is being started for the residents of Uttarakhand. To boost the hotel business, tourists are allowed to visit the state and stay in hotels. For this, their Covid-19 test taking 48 hours ago should be negative. He further said that all things are being evaluated in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. All need to face the social, economic and mental problems resulting from the pandemic. In the past two days, there has been a pause and drop in Covid cases in the state. The government is alert and consistently checking those arriving in the state and ascertaining their travel history. The doctors and other frontline staff are discharging their responsibilities with alertness to tackle the pandemic, added the CM.
