In view of increasing land fraud cases, the Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat has appealed to the public to stay cautious and verify all necessary details before purchasing a land. Rawat on Thursday conducted a review of land fraud cases of the Kumaon division in Haldwani and issued orders to register cases in 14 matters of land fraud. He also reviewed 37 cases of land fraud in six districts of the division. He ordered to register cases in six land fraud cases of Nainital district, five cases of Udham Singh Nagar district and one case of Pithoragarh district. Rawat said that there are several cases of land frauds by land mafia like forging documents of land and property dealers selling the same land multiple times to different buyers. Such frauds also include multiple government lands too. Rawat appealed to the general public to verify all necessary details before purchasing a land. He said that one should get all the latest information about the land from the respective Khatauni Tehsil before purchasing the land. One should also check with the respective sub-registrar about all the owners of the land in the past 15 years. Certain points should also be taken into account whether any case on land dispute is registered in the court or the land is mortgaged in any bank by the party selling the land, said Rawat. He said that thorough verification and investigation are necessary before buying any piece of land to avoid land frauds and other related issues in future. He said that after purchasing the land, the boundary of the land must be done. He also said that one should immediately complain to authorities regarding land fraud and other associated scams.  The inspector general of Kumaon division, Nilesh Anand Bharne also asked the public to inform the police about land fraud or any land related complaint across the division at 8077713006.
