Two national-level training programmes based on Indian knowledge tradition are being organised at the Madan Mohan Malaviya Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) in Kumaun University.
Notably, with the support of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Knowledge Systems Cell, Union Ministry of Education, this important responsibility has been entrusted to MMTTC. Currently, only four universities in the country have been selected to conduct these programmes and Kumaun University’s inclusion is a notable achievement, said the
centre’s director, Prof Divya Joshi. “The objective of these training programmes is to strengthen teacher capacity to effectively integrate Indian knowledge traditions into the curriculum at higher education institutions across the country,” she said, adding that this initiative would not only introduce participants to the core concepts of Indian intellectual traditions but also provide them with practical training.
As part of the programme, a one-day orientation programme will be held on December 14 in which master trainers trained by UGC will participate. After this, a six-day basic training programme will be organised from December 15 to 20 in which participants (teachers and researchers) selected through online applications from higher educational institutions across the country will participate.
