KU holds 2-day research methodology training programme

A two-day research methodology training programme, sponsored by MERU Soft Component and organised by IQAC under the PM-USHA Abhiyan, was held at Kumaun University, Nainital. Among the dignitaries present at the
inaugural session were the director, IQAC and dean, Academics, Santosh Kumar; director, DSB campus, Neeta Bora Sharma and programme coordinator, Ritesh Shah.
While Santosh Kumar stressed on the researchers understanding methodology, ethics, and a scientific approach for fruitful and internationally acclaimed research, Sharma stated that the quality of research determines the identity of an institution in higher education.
In the first session, a professor of JNU, New Delhi, Arun Kharat provided detailed training to researchers on the entire process of literature review. He explained that preparing a systematic and critical literature review requires intensive reading, concentration and systematic note-taking. He also emphasised the use of ICT and digital technologies in research. During the event, a professor of IIT Roorkee, Tarun Sharma described research as a process of knowledge creation while presenting a simple and clear explanation of the philosophical dimensions of research methodology.
