Kothiyal challenges Dhami to debate on assets issue

Monday, 24 January 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief ministerial candidate Ajay Kothiyal said that the party will start a massive campaign to mark the statehood activists besides providing them reservation in government jobs after winning the elections. He also challenged chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to a debate on the issue of assets of the state. Addressing the statehood activists and their families on the third day of his virtual campaign Navparivartan Samvad, he said that the sacrifice of the martyrs and the struggle of the statehood activists is a debt on every person of Uttarakhand but the political parties like Congress and BJP do not even talk about their issues. He said, “The culprits of Khatima, Mussoorie and Muzaffarnagar shootings are roaming freely even after 21 years. Successive governments have failed to mark the statehood activists in over two decades despite their several promises. There is also no final decision on the issue of reservation for statehood activists in government jobs.” Kothiyal said that it is unfortunate that those leaders who were against the formation of the state became MLAs, ministers and chief ministers after its creation.

He also said that Dhami had claimed that he had resolved the issue of division of assets with Uttar Pradesh when the reality is, he did not fight for the state’s right for his political gain. “I challenge the CM for a debate on how he resolved the issue of division of assets with UP for the welfare of people of Uttarakhand,” added the AAP leader.
