Kedarnath temple reopened to the public

The portals of Kedarnath temple were ritually reopened to the public on Tuesday at 6:20 AM. The first prayer in the shrine was offered on behalf of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion. The Rawal (chief priest) Bhimashankar Ling and priest Shivling along with others conducted the ritualistic reopening of the temple and prayers in the shrine. An army band played tunes while devotees sang bhajans and hailed the lord at the time of the reopening of the Kedarnath temple. As directed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a helicopter showered petals on the devotees on the occasion.

Among the multitudes gathered on the occasion, the chief minister was also present at Kedarnath during the reopening of the temple. Dhami offered prayers in the temple after its reopening to the public and wished for peace and prosperity in the nation and state. In addition to welcoming the devotees who had arrived in Kedarnath on the occasion, Dhami also participated in the bhandara he had organised in the temple complex on the occasion.

The CM said that the State government is making all possible attempts to ensure that the Char Dham Yatra is convenient and safe. The authorities are also receiving the full cooperation of social organisations and self help groups for the pilgrimage. The government is undertaking efforts to take the pilgrimage forward based on the experience of past years. The CM reiterated the appeal of the State government to the pilgrims to first check the weather forecast before proceeding to Kedarnath so that they do not face any inconvenience due to the weather. Stating that the pilgrimage to Gangotri and Yamunotri is being held smoothly, he said that the portals of Badrinath temple will be reopened to the public on April 27 as scheduled.
