In latest news from Uttarakhand, along with the rest of the country, Kankhal celebrated the Ram Lalla consecration with religious gaiety and devotion. However, viewed from the mythological/spiritual perspective, Kankhal has a special significance as it is believed to be the place from where Lord Shiva’s consort Sati came. Kankhal was the capital of Raja Daksha, the father of Sati, and the Dakseshwar Mahadev temple still stands here in its full grandeur unvanquished by ages. The place was decked like a bride in keeping with its mythological significance. A string of events was held here to mark the auspicious occasion of the consecration. The principal event marking the day was organised at Chowk Bazar at which the former cabinet minister Madan Kaushik was present as the chief guest. Hailing the consecration, he said that the momentous event marked the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after a five-century-long forced exile.
