If the survey report comes out positive, the ropeway from Jyotirmath to Auli may become operational again this winter. Notably,
the service has remained suspended since January 5, 2023, following a landslide. Two and a half years have passed since then, but the ropeway is yet to resume operation.
With the ropeway service remaining suspended, Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam has been incurring loss to the tune of crores of rupees. The tourists travelling to Auli face difficulties too during snowfall, resulting in dwindling footfalls.
The ropeway’s in-charge, Rajendra Prasad Dimri said that a survey would begin soon and operations might resume upon receipt of the report.
