Justice Gupta takes oath as Uttarakhand HC chief justice

Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta assumed the charge of the new chief justice of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) on Saturday. He replaces justice G Narendar who retired on Friday.
The governor lieutenant general ( retd) Gurmit Singh administered the oath of office to the new chief justice of Uttarakhand HC in a solemn ceremony held at Lok Bhawan, Dehradun on Saturday. The chief secretary Anand Bardhan read out the warrant issued by the President of India appointing justice Gupta as the chief justice of the Uttarakhand HC.
Justice Gupta was appointed as the judge of Allahabad HC on April 12, 2023. He was recommended for elevation as chief justice by the collegium of the Supreme Court last month.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, chief justice of Uttar Pradesh HC Arun Bhansali, judge of Uttarakhand HC justice Ashish Naithani, cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, Khajan Das, Pradeep Batra and Savita Kapoor, director general of police Deepam Seth, registrar general of Uttarakhand HC Yogesh Kumar Gupta and others attended the ceremony.
