Journalists to be provided with a slew of health benefits

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the joint director of Information and Public Relations department, Nitin Upadhyay said while chairing a meeting with the journalists in Nainital that as per the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directions, the State government is preparing a policy for providing health and insurance benefits, including golden card, to journalists through his department. “This will be implemented soon and it will provide benefits to accredited journalists as well as actively working journalists. It is the priority of the government that journalists get cashless health facility,” he said, adding that the monthly pension of Rs 5000 per month previously given to journalists under the journalist pension scheme has been increased to Rs 8000.  

He further said that journalists are going to be provided financial assistance from the journalist welfare fund at the district level.
