Joshi reviews Lakhpati Didi, House of Himalayas projects

Rural Development minister Ganesh Joshi reviewed the progress of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana and House of Himalayas on Wednesday.
In the meeting the minister directed the officers of the department to expedite the works related to marketing of House of Himalayas products. He asked the officers to hold dialogue with the prominent hotels of Delhi, Mussoorie and Nainital for setting up stalls of the House of Himalayas. He said that effort should be made to take the taste of the products of Uttarakhand to all parts of the world.
The minister was told in the meeting that 164 outlets have so far been opened on the Char Dham Yatra routes. Joshi directed the officers to complete the process of opening of the outlets on the Adi Kailash route as soon as possible.
Joshi said that empowerment of women is necessary for strengthening the economy of the country and the State is moving forward with frim steps by successful implementation of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana. He said that the process of making Lakhpati Didis is underway in the State and it has achieved the target of making 1.65 lakh such Didis. Joshi added that 1.50 lakh more Lakhpati Didis will be made in the State.
In the meeting the minister directed the department to undertake vocational training programmes for the women of the Self Help Groups (SHG) on priority.
The meeting was attended by additional secretary Jharna Kamthan and additional chief executive officer Pradeep Pandey.
