Jadu Pitara to encourage learning among children: Rawat

The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the Jadu Pitara (Magic box) initiative will foster a love for learning in children. Rawat on Thursday distributed the game-based learning materials- Jadu Pitara- developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), to various primary schools in the Pabo block.

Speaking at the event, Rawat emphasised that the State government is implementing new educational technologies to strengthen the foundational level of education. In line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the new educational materials-magic box, are being made available in primary schools across the State.

In the first phase, under the Samagra Shiksha programme, magic box has been distributed to 2,327 primary schools in Pauri and Pithoragarh districts, including 1,354 schools in Pauri district and 973 schools in Pithoragarh district.

Rawat announced that in the second phase, the Jadu Pitara will be distributed to 8,939 primary schools across the remaining 11 districts. This includes 1,248 primary schools in Almora, 561 in Bageshwar, 919 in Chamoli, 477 in Champawat, 881 in Dehradun, 666 in Haridwar, 937 in Nainital, 521 in Rudraprayag, 1,265 in Tehri, 778 in Udham Singh Nagar and 686 primary schools in Uttarkashi district.

He further said that box will be instrumental in enhancing children’s interest in studies, eagerness to learn, critical thinking skills, mathematics and emotional well-being for children aged three to eight at the primary level. The materials include toys, puzzles and engaging stories, along with educational activities based on sports, painting, dance, and music.
