ITBP personnel deployed to boost security on Yatra routes

Along with the police, the personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have also been posted on the Char Dham Yatra route starting from Rishikesh to locations in the mountainous areas. In Chamoli district, ITBP platoons have been posted on the stretch from Jyotirmath to Badrinath and in the temple township too. One platoon has been deployed on the stretch from Jyotirmath to Badrinath and two platoons have been posted in Badrinath.
All vehicles plying to Badrinath are being checked by the personnel who are also working to improve the traffic flow on the stretch. Similar measures have been taken in Tehri district and other parts of the State. The security on the Char Dham Yatra route has been enhanced further following the Pahalgam terror attack.
ITBP jawans have been posted on the stretch from Jyotirmath to Marwadi Chowk and Badrinath taxi stand, among other stretches of the route to Badrinath. According to ITBP officers, jawans of the force have been deployed on the Yatra route for the first time this year on the directions of senior officials. A total of three platoons of ITBP have been deployed on the route to Badrinath in the district. The personnel are checking vehicles and handling the flow of traffic.
Similarly, ITBP jawans have been posted on the Yatra route in Tehri district to ensure the safety of pilgrims. Pilgrims to the Char Dham of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath pass through Tehri district. Transport department official posted as an administrative official at the Brahmapuri checkpost, Mukul Agrawal said that along with the department personnel, the ITBP personnel are also checking vehicles at the designated sites. The deployment of the uniformed personnel is aimed at enhancing security following the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
