Uttarakhand Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Lokeshwar Singh has resigned from his post after being selected for an international organisation affiliated with the United Nations. He is presently serving as the senior superintendent of police in Pauri district.

Singh has submitted his resignation and sought necessary approval from the Police Headquarters and the State government to take up his new assignment. After receiving the required approvals, he will be relieved from the Uttarakhand cadre to assume his new international role. Singh, a 2014 batch IPS officer, has served in several key districts including Haridwar, Dehradun, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh. During his 11 years of service, he has worked in diverse roles aimed at maintaining law and order, improving police response systems and strengthening public safety.

According to the Police headquarters, his selection in the UN-linked organisation came through a rigorous and competitive process that saw participation from qualified officers across the world. In his new position, Singh will contribute to areas such as institutional integrity, peacekeeping operations and sustainable development.

Officials have said that his appointment reflects the growing presence of Indian officers in international institutions and highlights Uttarakhand’s contribution to global governance. Singh’s new role will involve collaboration with international stakeholders and agencies working on peace and development initiatives.

His move is seen as both a professional milestone and a matter of pride for the State, as it enhances India’s representation and influence in global administrative and development sectors.
