Covid-19; 222 new cases, 451 recoveries and four deaths reported on Friday

A total of 222 new cases of Covid-19 were reported, 451 patients recovered from the disease while four succumbed to it in the state on Friday. According to the state health department, the number of active Covid-19 cases in the state is currently 3,231 whereas the recovery percentage is 95.26.

The total positive cumulative Covid cases detected in the state so far is 3,38,288 out of which 3,22,258 have been cured. With a total of 7,017 Covid patients having died so far in the state, the mortality rate is currently 2.07 per cent. Out of the new positive cases reported in the state on Friday 63 were in Dehradun district, 46 in Haridwar, 17 in Almora, 14 each in Nainital and Pithoragarh, 12 in Rudraprayag, 11 in Tehri, 10 in Udham Singh Nagar, eight in Champawat, seven in Chamoli, three each in Bageshwar and Uttarkashi. When it comes to the number of active cases, Haridwar district has the highest at 543 followed by 451 in Pithoragarh, 353 in Dehradun, 290 in Bageshwar, 232 in Almora, 230 in Nainital, 227 in Pauri and 200 in Champawat. Among the other districts, there are 149 active cases in Chamoli, 168 in Rudraprayag, 167 in Tehri, 112 in Udham Singh Nagar and 109 in Uttarkashi district.

Meanwhile, with the vaccination programme also continuing, 486 sessions were held on Friday in which a total of 39,377 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the state. The authorities have so far fully vaccinated 7,28,557 citizens while 27,81,298 have been partially vaccinated. The total number of beneficiaries in the 18-44 years age group fully vaccinated are 26,327 while 6,33,457 in this age group have been fully vaccinated. According to the state health department, currently there are a total of 31 containment zones in the state. These include 18 in Tehri district, nine in Haridwar, one each in Pauri and Pithoragarh with two containment zones in Dehradun.
