Infrastructural development underway at swift pace in border districts: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a review meeting chaired by Defence minister Rajnath Singh on infrastructural development along the nation’s northern borders in the national Capital on Tuesday.

Dhami said that infrastructural development works comprising roads, rail, telecommunications and air service are being undertaken at a swift pace in the border districts of Uttarakhand. The district magistrates of the border districts have been directed to hold monthly meetings and ensure that the remaining works are completed in the minimum time period. The State government is executing all remaining works in border districts on a priority basis, he added. Infrastructural works in the border districts will boost tourism in the State while also creating employment opportunities at the local level, added Dhami.

The CM further said that the Pithoragarh airport will be developed by the Indian Air Force. Functioning of this airport will enable tourists from across India to conveniently reach Pithoragarh which will generate employment opportunities at the local level besides improving the air connectivity. He said that one person is directly or indirectly connected to the armed forces in about every family in Uttarakhand so the people have considerable affection for the army. Priority will be accorded to execution of the works of the army in the State, he added. Chief secretary SS Sandhu was also present in the meeting.
