PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Uttarakhand governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has said that the Indian Navy has continuously strengthened its capabilities in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He was addressing a programme organised to mark Navy Day at the National Hydrographic office (NHO) here on Friday.

Emphasizing on the importance of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and satellite remote sensing the governor said that their use is revolutionizing maritime operations. The adoption of these modern technologies by the NHO has enabled the Navy to remain at the forefront of maritime power.

The governor said that the NHO is a vital component of the Indian Navy. It accurately maps our oceans and waterways, enabling the Navy and Coast Guard to fulfil their role as protectors of our maritime borders. He said that the data and maps produced by the NHO are vital for warships, submarines, port development, and the blue economy.

On this occasion, he met and interacted with all serving and former naval personnel present, extending Navy Day greetings to all. He paid special tribute to the brave sons and retired naval officers (veterans) who, through their courage, dedication, and skilful leadership, have made significant contributions to protecting our maritime interests.

Chief hydrographer vice admiral Lochan Singh Pathania, joint chief hydrographer rear admiral Piyush Pawsi along with serving and former naval officers were present on the occasion.
