The India Drone Festival-2019 was inaugurated here on Tuesday by chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. People from 21 states are participating in this event.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Rawat said that drones are being used for multiple purposes at present. They can be used for security, survey, during disasters, health, crowd control, monitoring of railway lines and rivers among other important activities. He recalled that the nation’s first Drone Research and Development Centre had been opened in Dehradun some time ago. He also commended the efforts of the former head of National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), Alok Joshi for this. The Uttarakhand defence manufacturing and supply association has also been formed in Dehradun, he said.
Regarding the drone festival, he stressed that the participation of youth is also necessary in such events. The youth of the state are also being involved in any such type of programme organised by the state government.
Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi opined that drone technology had proved to be a boon for the nation and state in various spheres. In Uttarakhand, this technology will prove to be very useful for disaster management, agriculture, traffic control and survey in the future, he added.
Surveyor general, lieutenant general Girish Kumar, information technology secretary RK Sudhanshu, finance secretary Amit Singh Negi, DG (Crime and Law & Order) Ashok Kumar and ITDA director Amit Sinha were also among those present on the occasion.Wednesday, 27 February 2019 | PNS | Dehradun
