INDI Alliance supports Justice for Ankita Bhandari Maha Panchayat

All the political parties of the INDI Alliance have extended their support to the Justice for Ankita Bhandari Maha Panchayat convened by many organisations at the Parade ground, Dehradun on February 8.
Interacting with the mediapersons here on Thursday, former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case on the basis of a complaint filed by a person who is sponsored by the government is a mere eyewash.
He said that the Congress party and other constituents of the INDI Alliance have been consistently demanding that the CBI probe should be monitored by the Supreme Court. Rawat said that after the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the crime against women in the State is steadily rising. He said that recently three young women were murdered in Dehradun within a period of five days which shows that the law and order situation in the State has deteriorated completely.
Rawat said that the Ankita Bhandari case is associated with the existence and the identity of the State and it is essential that justice is delivered in the case. He appealed to the people of the State to make the Maha Panchayat on February 8, a huge success.
The State secretary of the CPI -ML, Indiresh Maikhuri said that the BJP government has tried to save the VIP in the Ankita murder case from the inception. He said that the CBI probe based on a complaint of a person with questionable intent and neglecting the complaint of the parents of Ankita Bhandari suggest that the BJP is reluctant on fair investigation in the case.
The National secretary of Samajwadi Party, S N Sacchan said that the State is deliberately being thrown into the fire of communal discord. He said that the police are targeting those who stood up against the communal elements in Kotdwar.
Former State secretary of CPI, Samar Bhandari said that girls are not safe under the rule of BJP. He said that the BJP has supported and protected rapists and criminals in different parts of the country. Trade union leader Jagdish Kukreti said that a fight at social and political levels is needed for justice to Ankita Bhandari.
