Increased prices of petrol, diesel- Cong holds state-wide protest

In protest against the spiralling prices of diesel and petrol, the Uttarakhand Congress organised a state wide protest at petrol pumps on Friday. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh led Congressmen in the protest. He along with other leaders of the party held a vehement protest at a petrol pump on busy Rajpur road and at Dehradun Cant on the day. Holding placards the Congress workers demanded the government should reduce the prices of diesel and petrol and provide relief to the people. The PCC president Singh said that the increase in fuel prices have a cascading effect on the prices of every commodity. He said that the people are reeling under twin onslaught of the Covid-19 and increase in prices.

The PCC president said that the BJP government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel 43 times in the last five months due to which the price of petrol has gone beyond Rs 100 and diesel Rs 90 per litre. He said that the edible oil has become dearer by three times in the NDA regime than in UPA’s time. The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said the people are not in mood to spare BJP and are waiting for the opportunity to teach a lesson to it.

The general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, Mahanagar president Lalchand Sharma, Garima Dasauni, Jasvinder Singh Gogi and others were present in the protest.
