Include Anganwadi workers and children in Yoga day programmes: Arya

Sports minister Rekha Arya said that the children of Anganwadi centres and Shishu Sadans along with Angwanwadi workers will be included in the programmes on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.

The minister held a review meeting of the Sports and Women Empowerment and Child Development departments on Monday. Preparations for the International Day of Yoga programme on June 21 and International Olympic Day programme on June 23 were discussed in the meeting.

Arya said that Yoga is very important for  physical and mental health along with spiritual life.  She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the International Day for Yoga from Uttarakhand. 

The minister said that the State is celebrating International Olympic Day on June 23 for the first time. The Sports department will organise a programme on the occasion at Manaskhand Sports complex, Gaulapar, Haldwani.  She said that the players representing Uttarakhand at national and international level will also be invited to this event. Arya added that cultural programmes and sports events will be organized to mark the day. She said that the programme will be organised under the joint aegis of Uttarakhand Olympic Association and the Sports department.

Special principal secretary Amit Sinha, secretary Chandresh Yadav, Sports director Prashant Arya and others attended the meeting.
