Shaheed Memorial Cricket Tournament at UPES  

Dehradun: The 5th ‘Shaheed Memorial Cricket Tournament’ is being organized at the Bidholi campus of UPES, Dehradun with the participation of 13 teams from the government organizations and the Indian Army, including the hosts UPES,  said Arun Dhand, senior director, UPES. He further said that the departments which have sent teams include Uttarakhand Power Sports Group, Jal Sansthan, Pay Jal Nigam, GST department, agriculture department, Income Tax department, education department, Uttarakhand Secretariat, MDDA, irrigation department, and ONGC.  This year, the tournament is being organized in the memory of Late Nayak Brij Mohan Singh of 9 Para who made the supreme sacrifice of laying down his life for the country during the Kargil war, he said and added that he had been awarded ‘Vir Chakra’ posthumously. The finals of the edition would be held on January 4, he informed. The inaugural match was played between the hosts UPES and agriculture department. UPES won and Dr Mohd Yakoot was declared man of the match for scoring 97 runs off 37 balls.

Christmas celebration & Art n Craft exhibition

Doon_Cambridge_SchoolDehradun: Doon Cambridge School celebrated Christmas and hosted an art and craft exhibition for the students on Thursday. While the playgroup students danced, dressed up in the attire of the fairy tales, to the melodious tune of the carols the students of class IV enacted the play on the birth of Lord Jesus. Art and craft work by the students was on display too which was appreciated by H K Chhabra, the principal Doon Cambridge School. The principal said that innovative ideas were seen in the exhibition.
