The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has transferred a novel technology titled ‘A Novel Test Stand and Method to Measure the Burning Rate of Flammable Liquids’ to Swan Environmental Pvt Ltd, a leading environmental monitoring solutions company based in Hyderabad.
Developed by Prof K B Mishra and Ankit Sharma of IIT Roorkee, the invention provides a new test system and method for correctly measuring the maximum burning rates of flammable liquids.
Mishra said, “Our motivation behind this invention was to address a long-standing gap in correctly measuring the burning behaviour of flammable liquids and gases under realistic conditions.”
The managing director, Swan Environmental Pvt Ltd, Vijay Kumar Chadalavadaremarked, “We are confident this technology will strengthen our industrial safety and hazard assessment capabilities.”
The director, IIT Roorkee, Prof K K Pantsaid that they were happy to contribute to India’s innovation ecosystem through technologies that address real-world industrial and societal challenges.
