Igas Bagwal, a symbol of Uttarakhand’s folk culture and mountain identity, is all set to be celebrated at Ramlila Maidan here on Friday from 6 PM to 7 PM. The cultural and folk dance programmes would showcase the local culture, the district administration sources said.
Notably, the district magistrate Prashant Arya has designated the chief development officer, Jai Bharat Singh as the nodal officer for the celebration. The district-level officials have also been assigned responsibilities.
Arya said that Igas Bagwal is an integral part of the cultural heritage of the mountain community. “We are taking all initiatives to ensure the local artists get a new identity during this year’s celebration,” he added.
