IG directs enhanced security and coordination with RPF across Uttarakhand

In view of ensuring maximum security at public places like railway stations in Uttarakhand, the Inspector General of Police (Railways) Sunil Kumar Meena instructed coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to deploy escort duty on as many trains as possible. He conducted a review of crime and administrative work at the Government Railway Police (GRP) headquarters in Haridwar and held a conference with officers and staff on Sunday. During the meeting, Meena directed all station in-charges to organise workshops in coordination with border GRP units and ensure daily updates on the portal. He emphasised timely disposal of investigations pending for over 60 days and the identification of unknown bodies through fingerprint matching with missing person records from district police stations. He instructed coordination with the RPF for regular checking of railway tracks and directed preparation of a detailed work plan for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027. He also directed officers to complete investigations related to crimes against women and cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act within prescribed timelines. Meena directed the use of e-summons for issuing notices and the appointment of sub-inspectors or assistant sub-inspectors at each station to address passenger complaints. He called for successful resolution of pending cases, arrest of accused and full recovery of property. He also instructed strict compliance with court orders, improving investigation of theft, robbery, chain snatching and poisoning cases and enhancing seizure percentages. He directed Bomb Detection Squads (BDS) and canine units to conduct security checks at railway stations and on trains. Officers will increase preventive actions and promote public awareness of police apps and helpline numbers, including the Uttarakhand Police App, Gaura Shakti App and GRP numbers. Meena also directed officers to pursue pending proposals related to the railway department.
