Hybrid & electric vehicles exempted from motor vehicle tax

The Uttarakhand government has decided to exempt motor vehicle tax on the sale of hybrid and electric vehicles in the State. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet held on Wednesday.

 Informing about the decision of the State cabinet headed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, secretary Shailesh Bagauli said that the cabinet decided that tax exemption will be applicable on only plug-in hybrid vehicles and strong hybrid electric vehicles. He said the objective of the decision is to encourage people to purchase these vehicles and reduce pollution. 

In another important decision, the cabinet approved the proposal to bring uniformity in the selection process of constables and sub inspectors. The cabinet approved necessary amendments in the regulations governing selection of constables and SIs which will ensure one selection process for these posts in Police, Excise, Transport and other departments.

The cabinet also decided to provide benefit of ex-gratia appointment for the dependents of the deceased sanitation workers, the services of whom were regularised under one time settlement scheme. 

A series of decisions were taken by the State cabinet for the Badrinath Dham. Approval was given for the construction of a special type of artwork for the Sheshnetra Lotus wall at the lakefront area of Badrinath.

Similarly the cabinet approved the plan for construction of artwork at the Tourism Management Centre building at Arrival Plaza in Badrinath.

 A decision to construct ‘ tree and river  sculpture’ at Badrinaryan Chowk near the arrival plaza in Badrinath.

The cabinet also endorsed the plan to reorganise the structure of the Uttarakhand Human Rights commission.
