The Uttarakhand High Court (HC) has directed the chief secretary of the state to file an affidavit within three weeks on the continuing system of revenue police in the state. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on abolishing the system of revenue policing in Uttarakhand, the bench of chief justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice R C Khulbe directed the CS to inform as to what has been done on the HC order dated January 13, 2018 on the revenue police. The court in this order had directed the State government to abolish the 157 year old practice of revenue policing in six months.
