The owner of a hotel management institute has filed a complaint at Doiwala police station, alleging that he and 31 candidates had been swindled of around Rs 45 lakh on the pretext of sending students abroad for jobs.
As per the complaint, the institute owner, Rajeev Singh Rawat, who runs a hotel and a hotel management training centre in Gularghati, said that a friend of his had introduced him in May 2024 to a man called Amrish, who had claimed to provide 100 per cent job placement abroad for the students. Rajeev said that he had not found anything suspicious about Amrish.
Trusting him, Rajeev had thus transferred nearly Rs 45 lakh through his bank account for sending about 28 candidates abroad with jobs. However, as none of them had got job within the promised time, the students started pressing him to return the money they had given him. As per the complaint, Rajeev had already refunded some students from his pocket.
The complainant alleged that despite repeated requests, Amish has not returned the money. This had resulted in financial loss for him aside from damaging his reputation.
Rajeev also mentioned in the complaint that a woman called Sheena Sharma was involved in the matter and some money had been deposited into her account as well.
Doiwala police said that they have received the FIR and started the investigation.
