501 new cases reported on Saturday; 5 dead
Breaking all previous records, a whopping 501 patients of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) were reported by the state health department in Uttarakhand on Saturday. It shattered the previous high of 451 cases in a single day reported on July 22. Maximum numbers of cases on Saturday were reported from Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts. The state now has 9402 patients. Death of five patients of the disease was also reported on Saturday which increased the death toll to 117 in the state . The authorities discharged 232 patients of the disease from different hospitals on the day which increased the tally of recovered patients to 5963 on the day. The recovery rate of the disease is now at 63.42 while the doubling rate for the state in the last seven days is 23.76 days.
Three patients of Covid-19 (50 year old female and 40 and 37 year old males) were reported dead at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on the day. Similarly two patients (76 year old male and 55 year old female) were reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on the day.
The health department reported 172 patients in Haridwar while 171 patients were found in Udham Singh Nagar district. In Nainital 85 patients were reported while 38 patients were detected in Dehradun. Ten patients were found in Bageshwar, nine in Pauri, five in Uttarkashi, four in Tehri, three in Pithoragarh, two in Rudraprayag and one each in Chamoli and Champawat districts.
The state now has 3283 active patients of the disease with Udham Singh Nagar at the top position in the table of active cases with a count of 915. Haridwar is at second position with 825 active cases. Nainital is in third position with 611 active cases while Dehradun is in fourth position with 350 active patients of Covid 19. Uttarkashi has 142, Pithoragarh 103, Pauri 71, Tehri 65, Bageshwar 65, Champawat 60, Almora 36, Chamoli 24 and Rudraprayag 16 active cases each of Covid-19.
