High powered committee discusses Smart City project

The meeting of the High Powered Steering Committee (HPSC) of Dehradun Smart City project was chaired by chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh at the secretariat here on Wednesday. Officials of the project management consultant, Dehradun Smart City Limited gave a presentation on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). This centre is proposed to be set up at ITDA Bhawan in IT park. From this centre, the monitoring of traffic management, solid waste management, city surveillance, Wi-Fi, citizen centric services and emergency help desk for Dehradun city will be facilitated. After detailed discussion the HPSC granted approval to DPR of ICCC costing Rs 234.85 crore. The chief secretary who also heads the HPSC, directed incorporation of inputs pertaining to overheads and maintenance in it. The DPRs of three schools namely Government Girls Inter College, Rajpur Road, Government Inter College, Khurbura and Girls Junior High school, Khurbura which are to be included in the Smart City project to be modernised at a cost of Rs 5.58 crore were also presented in the meeting. The chief secretary instructed the additional chief executive officer of Dehradun Smart City Limited to make arrangements for visit and training of staff and teachers of these schools to some smart college. The IT component will be established in these schools along with civil and electrical works. Singh also directed that gymnasium and multi- purpose halls be established in these schools while stressing on coordination between the principals and senior officials of the education department in this regard. The chief secretary also asked the Dehradun Smart City Limited to make a presentation before the Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ this month and provide him details about the 10 wards out of which six are to be covered fully while four wards to be partially covered in the project. The mayor also made suggestions in the meeting. Information Technology secretary RK Sudhanshu, Potable Water secretary Arvind Singh Hyanki, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav, ITDA director Amit Sinha, municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
