490 deaths from Covid-19 in April so far in the state

The increase in the number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the state is worrying the experts. They warn that the death rate in the state in the last few days is higher than the national average and should be brought down. From April 1 to April 26, the state health department has reported 490 deaths in Uttarakhand from Covid-19.

The founder of Social Development for Communities (SDC) Foundation Anoop Nautiyal said that in the last five days (From April 21 to 25) 210 people died from Covid-19 in Uttarakhand while 11320 deaths occurred across the country. “The population of Uttarakhand is less than one percent of the country but in the last five days the share of the state in the Covid-19 deaths is 1.86 percent which is high. I urge the state government to look at this fact and take all proactive steps to minimise the deaths from the pandemic,’’ he said.
