Petitioner has sought flyover on Kaladhungi Road to resolve traffic congestion

In a public interest litigation seeking construction of a flyover on Kaladhungi Road in Haldwani, the High Court has sought the State Government’s reply within two weeks. Hearing the PIL, the division bench of chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice RC Khulbe also asked the Senior Superintendent of Police about steps which can be taken for traffic control. According to the case details, a resident of Chhoti Mukhani in Haldwani, Puran Chandra Joshi had filed the PIL in the high court. In his petition, Joshi has stated that traffic congestion has become a regular problem on the Kaladhungi Road, especially near Mukhani. Due to the frequent traffic jams, those going to school, office or other works have to waste quite some time negotiating the traffic jam as a result of which they are unable to do their work on time. The petitioner has also stated that a flyover should be constructed on Kaladhungi Road to resolve the problem of consistent traffic congestion here.
