PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Jyotirmath

In latest news from Uttarakhand, some army jawans along with the Gurudwara sevadars have returned to Ghangaria after taking stock of the situation at Hemkund Sahib. The yatra to the high-altitude, revered shrine is all set to start on May 25 this year. The members of the inspection team said that the route from Govindghat to Ghangaria is clear except for Ramdhungi which has some blocks of snow. The Gurudwara staff informed the PWD about it and the latter assured to have it removed soon.

Besides, snow was found on the stretch from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib, particularly in those areas where sunlight does not come. At this time, Hemkund Sahib has four to five feet of snow.  The president of the Gurudwara Trust, Narendrajit Bindra said that the army jawans would remove the snow like last year. “Blocks of snow were found at two places along the stretch from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib,” he added.
