The Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara was ritually reopened for pilgrims in this high altitude region of Chamoli district on Sunday.  More than 4,000 devotees took a dip in the glacial lake before paying obeisance at the Gurudwara on the occasion.

The portals of the Gurudwara were reopened for pilgrims at 10 AM on Sunday. Earlier, the Gurugranth Sahib was placed by the ‘Panj Pyare’ in the Gurudwara. Kulwant Singh then recited Sukhmani Sahib, which was followed by Kirtan after which the first Ardas of this year was recited at the shrine. The Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara Trust also honoured the Army jawans who had come to the shrine and the jawans who had helped cut through the snow for clearing the route to the shrine. The Gurudwara manager Sewa Singh informed the pilgrims about the Yatra route while the Gurudwara Trust chairman Narendrajit Bindra thanked the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and all the departments concerned for their work at Hemkund Sahib.

It will be recalled that the ancient Lokpal-Lakshman Mandir situated near the Gurudwara was ceremoniously reopened to devotees on May 23.
