In latest news from Uttarakhand, the portals of the revered Hemkund Sahib opened for devotees at 9.30 am ritualistically. Half an hour before the portal opening ceremony, a batch of 2000 pilgrims reached. Earlier, they had reached Ghangaria after starting off from Gobind Ghat Gurudwara in Chamoli. The district administration claimed to have made all arrangements to ensure that the pilgrims are provided with drinking water, electricity and health facilities.
The daily pilgrim count has been pegged at 3,500 to facilitate smooth pilgrimage.
