The meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of a wet spell with isolated intense rainfall activity in different parts of the state till June 14. Current meteorological analysis and Numerical Weather Prediction models indicate that the trough extending from North Punjab to Northeast Bay of Bengal in lower levels across Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, central parts of Jharkhand and north Odisha is likely to remain in situ till June 14. The presence of the trough and strengthening of south westerly flow from Arabian Sea in lower levels is likely to enhance the moisture incursion over Uttarakhand. Under its influence light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershower activities with isolated intense to very intense spells are likely to occur over Uttarakhand till June 14.

According to the state meteorological centre, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Nainital and Champawat districts on Friday. Further, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and intense shower is also likely to occur at isolated places in the state. Gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the plains of the state. In Dehradun, one to two spells of rain/thundershower are likely to occur with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

On June 12, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Nainital and Champawat districts while heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Haridwar, Almora, Udham Singh Nagar, Rudraprayag, Dehradun and Tehri districts.
