The health department of Uttarakhand is all set to miss the target taken by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to inoculate the entire 18 plus population of the state with both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine till end of this year.

In order to achieve the target set by CM the department needs to administer 82,318 doses of vaccine daily in the next 40 days which considering the present slow pace of vaccination drive is almost impossible to achieve.

In the last 10 days the health department has administered only 4,57,968 doses which means that it has to 32,92,739 doses in the next 40 days in order to achieve the target.

The data released by Social Development for Communities (SDC) foundation shows that the pace of vaccination has slackened in the last two months.

It should be mentioned here that a total of 4,57,968 doses were administered from  November 12 to 21. In the preceding 10 days period (November 2 to 21) a total of 2,84,611 doses were administered.

The data shows that a total of 75,40,202 people have been administered the first dose while 46,25,991 have received both shots of the vaccine till November 21 in the state.

It means that a total of 1,21,66,193 vaccine doses have been administered.

As per the data of state health department a total of 77,29,466 people are needed to be vaccinated in the state which means that the department has a target of 1,54,58,932 vaccine shots.

The Founder of SDC foundation, Anoop Nautiyal said that with less days remaining the per day target is increasing rapidly now. He said that a total of 32,92,739 vaccine doses are needed to be administered in the next 40 days. Nautiyal warned that there is an urgent need to accelerate the vaccination drive otherwise it would not be possible to achieve the target till December 31 this year.
