Health dept reports 4 new cases of dengue in Doon

Four new cases of dengue were reported in Dehradun district on Wednesday. The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that four persons were hospitalised after testing positive for dengue on Wednesday. Three (including one from the outpatient department) were admitted to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital for treatment while one was admitted to Government Doon Medical College (GDMC). This brings the total number of confirmed dengue cases (ELISA-positive) to 72 which includes 41 cases in Dehradun and 31 cases from other districts or states.
Dr Sharma further informed that there are currently eight active cases of dengue under treatment: six at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at Government Doon Medical College and one recuperating at home.
Further, on Wednesday alone, 125 dengue samples were collected, raising the cumulative total to 5,140 samples collected so far. Importantly, there have been no reported deaths related to dengue so far this year, he said.
He said that on Wednesday ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) and Health department volunteers conducted 17, 492 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. Among these, 93 houses tested positive for larvae. The Health department has completed a total of 4, 63, 748 house surveys with 1,347 of them having shown positive results. Additionally, on Wednesday, ASHA workers and volunteers inspected 1, 00,167 containers of which 125 were found positive for larvae. To date, they have surveyed 28, 71, 595 containers, resulting in 1,670 testing positive.
