PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
Considering the rising number of Covid-19 cases in India, the Health department has provided directions to both private and government hospitals in the Dehradun district to ensure they are adequately prepared. Stating this, the Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) of Dehradun and the district surveillance officer, Dr CS Rawat stated that in light of the ongoing increase in cases in India, all hospitals, whether private or government, have been instructed to adhere to these guidelines. He said that the directives include a requirement for hospitals to maintain an adequate number of Covid-19 testing kits and in case they are lacking sufficient kits, they are advised to request additional supplies from the Health department. It is imperative to maintain sanitation, masks and other essential measures within the hospital. Dr Rawat said that hospital administrations have been instructed to identify isolation wards, ensuring they are prepared for emergencies. Additionally, monitoring of the operation of oxygen cylinders and the oxygen generation plant at the facility has also been directed. He also said that if there is an increase in cases of common influenza or flu-related symptoms, such as fever, cold and cough, a separate flu outpatient department should be established to ensure the safety of other patients. Further, the hospital has been directed to report any cases related to a new wave of Covid-19 via the online portal, allowing the health department to undertake necessary surveillance and further actions.
It will be recalled that Dr Rawat previously urged the public to remain calm and adopt all necessary precautions, such as maintaining distance, wearing masks and practicing good hygiene. He asked the public to follow basic precautions to prevent themselves from the new wave of Covid-19.
