Saturday, 14 May 2022 | PNS | Nainital

The Uttarakhand high court has dismissed the petition filed challenging former chief minister and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’s 2019 election. The high court single bench of justice Sharad Kumar Sharma found the matter stated in the petition baseless and inconsequential, while dismissing the petition.

It will be recalled that Dehradun resident Manish Verma had filed the petition in the high court challenging the Haridwar MP’s election. He had alleged in the petition that Nishank had provided wrong information in his affidavit during the election. The court had also pulled up the petitioner for intending to gain publicity in the media through court proceedings related to the case. The court had also asked the petitioner to provide proof of the allegations leveled in the petition. However, the petitioner was unable to provide the same.
