Harsil Heritage Festival to be held in December

The Uttarkashi district magistrate, Prashant Arya informed that the Harsil Heritage Festival would be held from December 25 to 31 during which local culture, folk art, handicrafts and traditional cuisine will be given prominence. “The aim behind organising Harsil Heritage Festival is to give global recognition to the cultural, historical and tourism potential of the border region of Harsil,” he said.  He instructed the officials to quickly prepare a detailed action plan regarding the outline of the festival, variety of programmes and preparation of the venue. The meeting was attended by Army officials and officials of the related departments.

The meeting discussed in detail the overall development of border areas, progress of strategically important projects and ongoing work under the ‘Vibrant Village’ initiative.

The meeting also discussed the installation of solar power plants in Jadung and Nelang villages, installation of an RO plant, construction of a tourist attraction and cafe near Nelang village and the issuance of a no- objection Certificate (NOC) for the establishment of an apple processing plant in the Jhala area.

The district magistrate stated clearly that the development of infrastructure in border areas is a top priority for the State government.
