The Congress veteran and former chief minister Harish Rawat launched a scathing attack on the BJP government while addressing a press conference here, stating that the saffron party had been trying to create religious division in the society. “It has been indulging in politics of hatred under the guise of Sanatan Dharma. True Sanatan Dharma is enshrined in the Chicago speech of Swami Vivekananda which epitomises the spirit of Sarva Dharma Sambhaav,” he said, adding that Gandhiji’s path of love, compassion and truth is the right path to follow. He further said that the political use of religion is harming both the country and the society.
Raising questions on the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra, he said that while the Yatra is about to begin the arrangements are far from satisfying. He cited the deplorable condition of Uttarkashi- Mukhba road. “It was built during the Congress rule, but now several potholes gape, making it difficult for one to walk,” he said.
He also mentioned illegal mining and hike in electricity rates in his stringent criticism of the State government.
