Harish, Harak exchange barbs following ‘bonhomie’ at Delhi meeting

The two Congress veterans, known for their mutual antipathy for years, Harish Rawat and Harak Singh Rawat have again crossed swords on social media significantly after attending together a high level meeting in Delhi chaired by the party’s national president, Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
While in a barb aimed at the former chief minister, Harak Singh Rawat said that had Harish Rawat stayed away from the 2022 Assembly election contest, the Congress might have returned to power.
Stung by his bete noir’s disparaging observation, the septuagenarian leader said that but for his support, Harak Singh would not have returned to the Congress. Also, he dubbed the 2016 turmoil that engulfed the State government being helmed by him and culminated in BJP’s electoral victory and formation of the saffron government as something akin to backstabbing the democracy in Uttarakhand. “The scar inside me is still festering, far from being healed,” he said in a social media post.
