Haridwar police fully prepared for Kartik Purnima bathing: SSP

Haridwar police have made adequate preparations to ensure a safe Kartik Purnima bathing festival. The fair area has been divided into 11 zones and 36 sectors with joint teams of police and administrative officers being deployed in each zone. Special security arrangements have been made at the ghats, major roads and parking areas. Six teams of water police will be present too at the ghats to prevent drowning while the entire fair area will be monitored through CCTV cameras. Female police personnel have been specially deployed at the ghats while alternative routes will be used in case of increased crowds, SSP Haridwar Pramendra Dobhal said.
Millions of devotees are expected to arrive at Har Ki Pauri and other ghats on the occasion of Kartik Purnima on Wednesday.
He further said that recovery vans and tow trucks have been deployed at five locations to maintain smooth traffic flow. Besides, heavy vehicles will be strictly prohibited from entering the mela grounds. Bomb disposal squads, dog squads and PAC teams will also be continuously patrolling the fair area, he added.
