Hang the guilty in public, says ABAP president

Monday, 26 September | PNS | HARIDWAR

With the murder of Ankita Bhandari eliciting outrage across the State, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP) president Mahant Ravindra Puri and general secretary Mahant Hari Giri have opined that those guilty of her murder should be hanged in the public. Members of the religious fraternity here said that people visit Uttarakhand for pilgrimage and tourism but such incidents dent the image of the State. The case should be processed in a fast track court and the culprits should be given the maximum punishment to set an example, they said.

The ABAP president expressed deep grief at the death of Ankita and said that the ABAP stands with the victim’s family in this hour of sorrow. He said that a delegation from the ABAP will soon go to meet the bereaved family and try to provide whatever help they can to them. “Those who commit such heinous crimes should not be spared. The culprits should be openly hanged at the crossroads so that other criminals are deterred from thinking of committing such crimes,” said the ABAP president.
