The Purola MLA Rajkumar and his supporters were welcomed into the Bharatiya Janata Party here by the party’s state president Madan Kaushik and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami among others on Sunday. The MLA said that it had become difficult to remain in the Congress anymore.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaushik said that the manner in which former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh spoke in front of the media about the manner in which he had been humiliated by the Congress only confirms the dynastic attitude in that party. While the Congress means, Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka, the BJP is a party based on its organisation, he said.

Welcoming Rajkumar to the BJP, chief minister Dhami said that the whole world has acknowledged the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which had raised the prestige of the nation. Modi has always had special affection for Uttarakhand and he remains especially concerned about aspects of the state. In the coming times, Uttarakhand will be known as an economic, cultural and religious capital in the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajkumar said that he had joined the BJP after getting impressed by works of Modi and Dhami while also being fed up with the dynastic politics in the Congress. Recalling his experience in the party, he said that he was sad that fulfilling the aim of serving the public is not possible now through the Congress party organisation. The condition in the Congress now is not what it was in the past, he said.

He said, “It had become tough to remain in the Congress on seeing it strongly opposing the works being undertaken by the Central and State governments for the welfare of farmers. While corruption was at its peak during Congress rule, it is now at the lowest in the nation and state. The BJP state government has effectively clamped down on the transfer business thriving under the Congress government. I decided that BJP is the only organisation which will enable me to serve the people and help take the nation further towards progress.
