Cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal has said that the Uttarakhand government is sensitive towards the problems of the police personnel and is doing its best to solve the grade pay issue. He said that the state government had set up a cabinet subcommittee headed by him and consisting of Cabinet ministers Dhan Singh Rawat and Rekha Arya to solve the issue. He said that the subcommittee has met once and would soon meet to deliberate more on it. Uniyal said that the director general of police and the department is taking up the cause of the personnel in a very good manner but since the issue involves finance, a meeting with all officers concerned would be held. He assured that every possible effort would be made to solve the issue.

It is pertinent to mention here that resentment is simmering in the ranks of the Uttarakhand police on the issue of grade pay. Under the new plan a Grade pay of Rs 1,800 would be given to Sepoy on completion of 20 years of service. Earlier a grade pay of Rs 4,600 was given to Sepoy on completion of 20 years of service.
