Govt hospitals to assign concrete reasons for referring Ayushman patients

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed that the government institutes should assign concrete reasons for referring patients to the higher centres under the Ayushman scheme. He gave the order while chairing a review meeting on the Aysuhman scheme at the State Health directorate on Saturday. 

Terming the scheme as the most important scheme associated with public health, the minister said that the sensitivity of the scheme is much more than other schemes.  Expressing satisfaction on the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhanmantri Jan Aarogya Yojana and Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana, the minister said that the efforts are being made to manage the gap funding in the schemes.

The minister said most of the people are visiting private hospitals for free treatment under the Ayushman scheme. He said that the expenditure in the scheme can be reduced if the number of people visiting government hospitals and medical college hospitals increases.

On a stern note, the minister directed the officers that the government hospitals should instil confidence in the general public by providing excellent services.

The minister said that appointment of specialist doctors and other necessary staff has been done in the districts. He averred that an arrangement of better treatment in the government hospitals has been made. The minister stressed on the need for setting up an effective system to ensure better treatment in the government hospitals. He said that the government hospitals should clearly mention concrete reasons for referring the patients to other centres and responsibility in this regard should be fixed.

The meeting was attended by chairperson of State Health Authority Arvind Singh Hyanki, Finance director Abhishek Anand, Administration director DP Joshi, Dr Saroj Nainthani, additional director,  IT, Amit Sharma, director of Health Services Dr Shikha Jangpangi, Dr RC Pant and others.
