Brahmachari Atmabodhanand ended his protest fast at Matri Sadan after Haridwar district magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey held a discussion with him and Swami Shivanad on Friday.
Atmabodhanand had been on a protest fast since August 18 demanding action for protection of the Ganga river. The DM informed the media, the DM said that letters from the central government and mining committee directions have been submitted to the additional chief secretary, forest and environment requesting action as per the directions.
He said that Shivanand is satisfied with the action taken against illegal mining in the past two months wherein 118 vehicles were seized and six stone crushers were sealed.
