Governor urges students to embrace lifelong learning

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning during the 5th convocation of Quantum University in Roorkee, where he was the chief guest on Saturday. This year, a total of 1,047 degrees were awarded across undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, advanced diploma and doctoral programmes. Singh congratulated the graduating students, their parents and teachers, emphasising that convocation represents a significant moment in life, resulting from hard work, discipline and determination. He reminded the degree holders that there are no shortcuts to success; it is achieved through hard work, patience and long-term discipline. He urged the students to dream big and adopt constant hard work, determination and positive thinking to realise their goals.
He highlighted the impact of the modern technological revolution, including advancements in AI, data analytics, robotics and quantum computing, urging students to commit to lifelong learning. According to him, the future will be led by youth who consistently pursue knowledge and embrace new technologies.
He also appreciated the progress made by the university in the fields of research, innovation, industry cooperation and social responsibility during the year 2024-25. Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat also extended his wishes to the students. Vice chancellor Vivek Kumar spoke about the university’s recent achievements.
